I am going to convert all of my CDs to FLAC files and throw away the physical discs *

Swap 'throw away' with SELL to record stores and friends and we get the accurate situation.

Moved to VBR some time ago to save that little bit of extra space. I still use a 2GB PMP which can roughly hold a dozen ''discs''. More than enough for one time listening.
