Cingular Music, Samsung SGH-A707 3G clamshell unveiled

Also known as the Cingular SYNC, the SGH-A707 supports speedy HSDPA networks and will play tunes from Napster and Yahoo Music subscription services. Also: 25 channels of streaming XM Radio.
Announced on Thursday along with Cingular's new music service, the SGH-A707 (now dubbed the ''Cingular SYNC'') looks to be the successor of the bulky, somewhat underwhelming SGH-ZX20, an HSDPA phone released though Cingular earlier this year. The quad-band, 0.7 inch-thick clamshell will arrive with a 2-megapixel camera, support for stereo Bluetooth headsets, microSD memory expansion, instant messaging (including AIM, MSN and Yahoo chatting services), and a speakerphone.
The release of the SGH-A707 comes with Thursday's debut of Cingular Music, a new service that lets subscribers to Napster, Yahoo Music and eMusic transfer tunes from their PCs to selected Cingular phones, including the LG CU500, the Sony Ericsson W810i and W300i, and the Cingular 3125. The new music package also includes access to 25 streaming channels of XM Radio. Does this mean we should forget the rumors of an over-the-air, Apple iTunes-powered music store coming to Cingular? Stay tuned.
