One thing they do need is quality speakers and cables to get the best from them ,same as any quality amp . If you pair them with cheap speakers and cheap cables you wont here the best from it . You dont need to spend a fortune but good speaker wire and rca cables do make a big difference . I use cambridge audio pacific rca cables and QED silver anniversary speaker cable
