could be a faulty mem. card. most phones auto format, atleast mine did as i recently changed. as far as formating with a notepad, idk. Also you didn't specify if this was a new or previously used mem. card, and additionaly it is possible that you have downloaded a corrupted file causing a malfuntion in the card. some ppl may say this is impossible but I recently experienced this happening.
