I've sorted it now. What i was doing wrong was that when I was putting in my username I wasnt putting in my full email address because some sites id looked on were saying i didnt need to. so i've now settled with using pop3.blueyonder.co.uk as incoming, smtp.o2.co.uk as outgoing, and my full email as username and all is fine. might be handy in future?
