if everything works alright with a new profile then something on the old one is causing you problems. ... another, easier way, you can also go to help menu and click 'restart with addons disabled' and see if it solves the problem. if it does, some of your addons are making a problem for you. if nothing works, you can try reinstalling firefox clean. i think there is a portable option in the installer and i recommend it when installing as it makes managing your profile much easier
