If using Windows then Microsoft's free Network Monitor is an alternative to Wireshark. Network Monitor is not easy for beginners. Unofficial addon to Firefox browser, FireSheep. Easy to use but built-in feature may be illegal if used on networks belonging to others. Anyway, to stop others from using switch off wireless router, or if can not be switched off set strong WPA password and discard it
