mint is a good place to start, but it is based on ubuntu with some added libraries like codecs and flash etc. and ubuntu is based on debian. it's not hard to solve the issues if you are able to explain the problem correctly. least i don't have to guide you through gentoo, there is not enough space, and a wap site would be no way to offer help, especially here, as certain symbols are not supported
