If i remember correctly, sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras, in terminal. Good thing to do on any fresh install, gets most of the commonly used codecs that are left out because they're not open source. It solved almost all of my problems with Ubuntu. Flash videos still seem to give me issues though.
