The reason they managed to get better pictures is cos they altered the LRO's orbit. Whereas before it followed a slightly elliptical orbit which 'wandered' about over the entire surface it was changed so that it passes at its closest when it is over the sunlit side of the moon. Whereas before photos were taken at 30miles they are now taken at 13 miles. That's still askin a lot of a camera tho.
