Don't have a favourite writer as such, but the following writers i have enjoyed their work immensely. Jim Thompson, Umberto Eco, Arturo Perez Reverte, china mieville, Haruki Murakami, T.C. Boyle, Iain Banks, A.N. Wilson, Neil Gaimen, alan moore (although he only has one book published, it is impressive) Neal Stephenson, Georges Perec, Michael Chabon and finally Jeffery Eugenides.
