I think 3d could become viable if/when the price of 3d tv's drop and everyone can afford it which could be within the next 5 - 10 years at the rate tech is advancing. On the other hand i havent really seen anything that would be more interesting to watch in 3d than 2d? For instance, one of my fav movies is Gladiator and I dont see how a 3d version could be better, although another movie i love...
