I have just checked and it seems like 5.1 lollipop??? Does that make a difference???? As far as rooting goes i dont really want to as it is on contract and i've heard rooting voids the warranty???

some apps will move to sd card but later cause problem, sometimes disaper... * +

copy paste downloaded stuffs from internal to sd card, or try ADM from Playstore An Go To ADM settings Download Location To SD An See If It Gets Saved On Ur SD *
