Buy a 480GB+ one as they are pretty cheap now.

Frankly the difference between the very best and the slightly not as good ones is not going to be very noticeable in practice, because both will smash any mechanical drive into oblivion for performance.

Samsung 840 EVO 500GB costs what these days? 150 quid? It's not the fastest but if you think logically, you can have 500GB of data fast access, instead of 250 and the rest on a mechanical. So more of what you store would be faster.

The point of an SSD these days for me is largely games, and games are getting so bloated (often 20GB installs or more) that 250GB seems a bit small now TBH * +

how much data does the OS take? and a few programs nothin major.. will i be left with about 130gb of free space? because i can just copy the game i will be playing from my 2.5 sata drive to the ssd then delete when iv finisished * +

Had a lot of hassle with the vertex 3. But not one problem with my Samsung. 128GB They are so cheap at the moment id get a 256GB even though I have over 60g left on my 128. Didnt see any benefit of putting games on it. * +
