All that proves is that the distinction between the i5 and i7 line (hyperthreading) will be meaningless. It is intel repositioning their product line. If they end up with every i5 having 8 threads then all the better for the consumer.

For those who buy new i5 yes but bad luck for 6600k and 7600k users and older. The ones who bought non K chips will suffer even more not being able to overclock either. * +

Driver based? The 7700k is a much more mature chip compared to ryzen and it is said to have microstutter. It would also have those on ryzen if it was related to other things. The pentium chips have loads of stuttering compared to the i3s in gta 5 also showing it might be related to thread count.

It doesn't have microstutter that is the fault of the CPU. Pretty sure if it did someone who had played GTA5 with an intel quad the past 2 years might have noticed it by now and made a big issue of it It didn't stutter on the 8 year old i7 920 I have played that particular game with * +

Why bad luck? That is the progression of technology. 7600K's 4 threads is blatantly fast enough, 1800X can't beat the damn thing with 16 threads in a dozen modern games again as I have shown you today * +

The progression is the issue tho. Ppl will listen and buy a i5 on your suggestion to play on for 5 years but will have issues in the next 2 years because the industry is moving forward. The ryzen parts will do just fine when the shift comes. Mentioning the amount of threads is useless i could say a xeon with 24 cores cant beat a i3 in counter strike and that is the same kind of false comparison. * +

The stutter is there according to those reviewers. It might be just windows using some of the cpu on background causing it because of the lack of cores. * +
