Hi, I have been trying to format an 8Gb SanDisk flashdrive for use, it keeps reporting that the disk is write protected. I have tried the following solutions offered online 1 created a dword in The registry in storage control policy 2. Downloaded an HP format tool (96kb)3. used diskpart utility to remove read only attribute4 used third party utilities to format (easus partition, disk genius )all this option has not worked. Is there any other way to remove this error and restore the flash for use * +

often when flash memory becomes damaged or faulty it becomes read only.
if that's the case it's not fixable. * +
