i3 2 cores 4 threads, i5 4 cores, i7 4 cores 8 threads. Also clock speeds and cache memory. * +

I would go for an AMD FX 8 core for gaming over an i5 (or i3, obviously). I think I read AMD said there will soon be price cuts too. * +
