Yeah but when you start turning up those settings you are losing fps. You are probably dropping into the 40s instead of 60. * +

Depends what engine. GTA5 by the looks of it crashes through 2Gb just on high with a few extras. Watchdogs and Ac Unity certainly do too, entirely playable settings on a GTX760. It's an upward trend here, the consoles have ensured it. * +

I'm more surprised at the complaints about the 3.5GB GTX970. It's still a great card and I would still choose it over the R9 290X. Nvidia have already said they will work extra hard on drivers if you believe them, they are generally pretty ace at it * +

They also said that the 970's design means it cannot be fixed with driver updates . Some cards are worse than others with some dropping performance after 3gb buffer is full . I would also take the 970 over the amd card everytime. * +

It's clearly a hardware design that cannot be changed. Nvidia may be able to make special profiles for the card though, it's certainly popular enough to justify. It was the best bang for buck when it was new, it still probably is even now * +

No doubt .But it should be sold as a 3.5gb card or 3gb even as some cards are reporting massive performance drops after using 3gb * +

I saw the tests, most of the time the limit is 3.5GB. You're still better off with a 3.5GB GTX970 than a 3GB 780Ti IMO. It's still a better card with a bit more memory/better thermals. I agree with you they should have marketed it clearer though * +
