My question is I have a laptop that's about 4 years old I think running 32 bit vista with 4gb of ram, although it meets my needs but should I upgrade? I'm not concerned about the 40 dollars, just don't know if I can get use to it, but I wouldn't mind a faster boot time * +

Get Win 7 instead. Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 will all have about the same performance. In fact, Vista is probably the worst for performance and Win 8 the best.. But I wouldn't recommend Win 8 to anyone, unless you have a touch-screen tablet. * +
