Iv got a Dell Optiflex pc. Problem is, the processor fan suddenly started to make this loud, annoying whizz sound. * +

can of compressed air, give the fan a good few short bursts, then spray any parts that look dusty, use a hoover (low power setting) to catch the dust, its probably just trapped dust but could be the fan is on its last legs, good housekeeping of the internal parts of your pc will prolong its life * +

Thanx pal, will do that. Keep you posted. * +

I could never go back to having a PC case that doesn't have dust filters on it. I've had my current PC for a few years now and there isn't any dust inside the case, all the parts still look new. * +

A dusty pc is also a fire risk * +

forgot to say if you can take the fan off, best give it a good clean out, it may also pay to look into a case with dust filters like newt said, I haven't got one but have heard they are good, I always thought they would restrict airflow but never looked into them properly * +

I have an Antec 1200 case. I have to keep all the fans on the lowest setting to reduce noise.. It's already like a wind tunnel in there lol * +

Stock fans are generally s**t and start getting noisy soon. I got this xcooler extreme thingy off amazon for like quid20, totally silent and a lot cooler than my last one. *
