The DVD doesn't have sound when you play it on your PC? * +

If you mean there is no sound when you play the file through a DVD player or simillar, it's probably because the audio stream in the .avi is not supported by the player http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave * +

No sound on PC - Try different software when burning. * +

.avi is a container. The audio file inside the container is not supported by your DVD player. You will need to find some software to convert the audio to a format your DVD player supports. See the bottom of the page that I linked for audio formats in .avi. * +

Just for an example, your DVD player will most likely support MP3 audio but not AC-3. Both of them audio formats can be used in a .avi file. * +

Thanks newt182... Will have a go with a converter and see what that does * +
