My friend's laptop has some problem in booting up...when i switch on the dell splash screen comes and then it enters black screen with a blinking cursor and two-three chinese like characters,his laptop has got vista installed...i tried system restore,chkdsk,start up repair...but none of them worked...i suspect hardware problem...what you guys will say? * +

I don't think there is problem with hard disk..because when inserted the vista cd..it detects the hard disk and in bios menu all the boot sequences are correct * +

If it detects then reinstall os old data will still remain with name old windows * +

@sonic yes i can @saif infact its not letting the control to the operating system...boot fails before the os starts * +
