The chances of that happening is high because Varane has won everything possible in spain with real and when real do get their man in marquinhos/alaba/laporte/stones, varane might leave. Downside, Pepe is aging. * +

United nearly bought Varane 5 years ago. Varane seemed open to it. He also keeps moaning at Madrid, only recently about his lack of big game selection. Still can't see Madrid letting him go though. * +

His wages will no doubt be high but he's coming on a free. Sounds like a good deal for all concerned really. One year, minimal commitment for the club for a player who still seems capable and motivated to play in the Premier League finally. See how he gets on. * +
