I think you're all missing the issue here.. lots of points raised, but nobody has identified the problem.. is Rooney the best English player right now? Yes.. is Hodgson a poor manager? Yes.. do England have some exceptional talent available? Yes.. will they ever win anything? No.. doesn't matter who comes in.. that applies to players and management.. people saying certain players only looked good because of foreign influences is rubbish.. they're exceptional players no matter what.. The biggest fault is teamwork.. it's why Gerrard was exceptional next to Alonso, and Lampard was exceptional next to Essien, but together they were hopeless.. Other nations instill teamwork into their youth players.. over here, we still praise the kid who runs from one end of the pitch to the other, without even looking for his team mates.. we're never going to win anything as 11 individuals * +

No sturridge is not the best player maybe he has the potential but alot of England players have had potential but never shine .your problem is your not open to debate your right everybody else is wrong because of your anti hodgson stance and red blinkers * +

They where hopeless for England cause as you have said Alonso and Essien made them look good .when England had Robson and venables we was not world beaters but we had our own identity and we was hard to beat and we had a lot more English players to pick .we have now lost that passion and identity and even s**t country sides like Costa Rica have worked out how to play against us . *
