3g wont be around much longer in the uk but it will be a long time before 2g is switched off because there are a lot of devices other than phones that rely on it like some smart metres etc.. 2g also provides some coverage in rural areas that no other network technology does. * +

Why does it feel like we have gone backwards? lol.gif I remember how 2G (GPRS), 2.5G (EDGE) and 3G were so damn good in terms of covering us in both cities and rural areas with little hassle. With 4G and 5G the moment you leave more urban areas you fall back on to 2G, 2.5G or 3G. We should be running on 3.5G (HSDPA) at minimum these days. *
