Arabic is the formal (mostly also the only) language in like 23 countries in middle east and north Africa. Yes there is different accents/dialects but usually learners learn standard formal language such that in TV news or book..etc. This is fully understood anywhere. When learners go deeper to learn dialects, mostly they will learn the Egyptian one because it's popular in cinema and movies industry. * +
