It's medically known that women become weaker both physically and emotionally during the period. Losing that amount of blood would decrease iron levels as well. Hence, more and more tiredness in general. In addition, changed hormones levels would usually affect their mood and emotions
Hence, it is a step of mercifulness to pause on doing such activities (prayer, fast). She does not need to pray missed ones at a later time. But if period happens in Ramadan, she need fast substitute days at a later time.
For reading the Quran, there is no issue that she can read any time (I know there is few different opinions in this aspect).

Besides, when we say the period blood is dirty or something out of a human body is dirty, it does not mean the human him/her self is dirty.
The person as a person is clean and honored.
(And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created with [definite] preference) Quran 17:70
