If you had a box with no lid or top..you label it ''Box''. However if the sides of the box were to get lower everyday then when exactly does it stop being a box and deservedly receive the label ''Tray?''.

Take the lid off a box it is no longer a box but a container. If the sides are not big enough to actually contain anything then I imagine it becomes a tray. The threshold ends when whatever you are trying to contain can not be contained. * +
