Yep, heard of it, it's nuts. In my opinion Pakistan is far from a good representative of Islam in many contexts, like over 30 other Muslim majority states that follow the Sharia law partially, Pakistan is the odd one out that actually has death for blasphemy. It's even more surprising out of the 10 countries who follow full fledge sharia law, only 5, actually impose death penalty, that is Egypt, UAE, Iran, possibly Afghanistan, and can't recall the last one, so it says a lot when a partially sharia following state imposes such a ridiculous penalty. Worldly punishment for blasphemy has no foundation in either the Qur'an or hadith, hence some Jurists through popular consensus added it to the sharia law. * +
