You can kind of see why it's an issue which nobody (on either side of the political spectrum) wants to tackle though, right?

It's all very well being the ones writing bills etc. It's not political suicide for them.. but for the President it could be. It could be worse than that, like the very real prospect of massive civil unrest and/or civil war.
So it'll probably be put in the 'too hard' basket for the next administration to deal with. * +

there isn't going to be a civil war because it was no longer possible to buy an assault rifle or large capacity magazine.
as it is he's put the one or two companies that exclusively make bump stocks out of business. * +
