Euthanasia is a warm topic in the media, at the moment. There have been several high profile cases widely reported in recent weeks, including a Dutch ex-prime minister and the intentions of Dame Esther Rantzen. Kier Starmer has said that he's committed to holding a vote on it if he gets into No.10.

Former England cricket captain, Ray Illingworth, has spoken of his support for assisted dying after watching his wife die from breast cancer.

And Leeds man Paul Lamb, paralysed in a car crash in 1990, recently died after campaigning for decades for the right to end his life.

On reflection, there's quite a lot of support for the right to die. There are people here who have to go to Dignitas in Switzerland for euthanasia, thanks to Swiss law, but it's terribly risky because UK law states that anyone helping them can be charged with assisting - and that's up to 14yrs in prison... * +

In Finland, interestingly the medical staff most closest to actual terminal patients would actually vote against euthanasia. read * +

'Euthanasia' sounds like a Finnish (no pun intended) theme park. * +
