never did like northern soul. about 30 odd years ago when i was about 14/15 we went to the northern soul all nighter at the wigan casino, i got bored about 2.30 am ish so started to walk home. I was living in liverpool at the time, it was about 40 miles 
Nothing wrong with that, Gloria Jones herself preferred soft cell's version. Was a little too young for the whole Northern soul thing but like a lot of the tracks what I've heard * +
