The rivers are dying. It's being caused by pure greed, not climate change. People need to get their heads out of their arses and do something about it. fu*k protesting, how about some modern day Dambusters? * +

We can't wait millions of years for megafauna to reappear, let alone small animals like the koala
which we owe our descendants

Why do we owe our descendants koalas? Bush fire has been happening long before man and will continue long after man. * +

Because the extinction of animals is 100 percent under our control

Would've been cool seeing the Elephant bird * +

Is it too bushy there in KZN?

Here in the megatropolis, we yearn to get out, right into nature. * +

And besides, we need higher oxygen levels, which the Earth had a long time ago, for large animals to evolve

The intensity of these current wildfires owe their origin in man-made industrial activities and other factors

The 'man-made industrial activities' point to higher carbon emissions which is the basic tenet behind climate change, though a psuedo-science if you will.

We still need to understand what is driving the intensity of these 'wild fires' and tropical cyclones/hurricanes.

It's most likely due to the presence of less plant biomass, such as trees, which would otherwise negate the increase in atmospheric CO2 levels.
So the more we build, the more vegetation is cleared, the more net CO2 in the atmosphere which gets absorbed into our seas and oceans, leading to increased acidic levels.
Also, more sea algae and cyanobacteria which, when die off, begin to decompose killing off sea life in those areas. * +
