you don't need to unlock a phone to call emergency services if I'm not mistaken. you don't even need a simcard * +

I did that with a Telital I had in 1999.

I had a brand new Mercedes Vito and wasn't used to the dashboard and full windows, put my phone down and took a right - phone vacated the van at 50mph... wouldn't have happened in the Transit. * +
