It's 50yrs today since the launch of Apollo 11 on it's historic moon landing mission. Coincidentally, the moon itself will appear to mark the occasion by undergoing a partial lunar eclipse.

Weather permitting it should be visible from the UK between about 9pm and midnight, when the moon will be rising, low over the south eastern horizon. * +

Considering the vastness of the Cosmos.
There's no reason to believe we're unique and anything special .
We could be just as irrelevant to other existence's as bacteria or less is to ourselves .'brainslug.gif * +

Guys seriously, if we detect any evidence for the signs of intelligent life, just like ourselves:
pollution in other worlds (analysing the light rays projected off distant worlds pointing to chemical compositions that are obviously synthesised via unnatural means), communication signals that alternate unlike natural means, etc etc,
how would your worldview change, of yourself and everything? Question.gif

Even more reason we should protect our own world..

So unless you're from the 'God will replenish our Earth' or the 'fu*k that new life will evolve from the surviving organisms after our eventual demise', we have to cherish all we've got. * +
