Hope Derek rots in jail. They don't like cops in jail

Defence was emotive for the most part. They relied on one piece of evidence extensively. But clearly that was enough to lead the jury to guilty verdict.
I'm wondering if the appeal would be different; maybe with all the crowd dying down a little, the court can examine points of law more impartially. * +

He was fu*ked from the moment that video got viral. His lawyer did a good job though; but the evidence was simply too damning and there was immense political pressure as well.

In a similar obscure case, it wouldn't surprise me if the jury came up with a not guilty verdict.

A similar case though would also not be obscure * +

Nah, I'm sure many cases pass through the court room on a daily basis involving police brutality, but now you have smart phones and video recordings that can make an event viral. I'm only wondering how this can affect due process in long term. Possibly for better, but it can equally be so for worse. Imagine the media and society deciding someone's guilt or innocence before a trial has even been complete. * +

People offering to help including people medically trained at the scene and the police telling them not to and how can you expect the crowd to be quiet if they see someone clearly struggling being no threat and being held down for too long? * +

Those are points of facts. I don't think they can be argued again in the appeal. Points of law are more about possible procedural errors during trial; questioning jury deliberation and whatnot. * +
