Who conquered who? The Romans beat the Celts, so you'd want a shortsword and shield like they had. Or spears and shields. Stabbing, not grandiose swinging.

It wasn't the Roman melee weaponry that beat the Celts. It was the brutality of their organisation and discipline. Then administration. The Romans adminned people into oblivion. * +

I read years ago that the Romans took some of the Celtic 'royalty' back home and forced them to intermarry with them, is there any truth in this? Absorbing them into themselves. * +
