They do last, same in a cupboard, i've eaten eggs two months after their date (i actually keep them in a cupboard, but either way is fine).

Just place them in water first to ensure they sink. If an egg floats, bin it.

They never even had a date on them before. In large trays. They only put em on them now cos of all the salmonella shyte. If they sink, they're sterile. It's not even rocket science. * +
