Scientists have successfully created a monkey/human hybrid (plans to use them to produce organs for donation) and they also linked up a monkey with Neuralink. Pretty disturbing stuff.

Maybe the only way animals will exist in the distant future is in some kind of cyborg/hybrid form.

That's not quite what they've done but trust shadow to sensationalise and imply a sinister context to what is in fact a remarkable medical breakthrough that could help millions of people. They put human stem cells inside modified monkey embryos and monitered how the cells grew. Eventually they hope to use this sort of technique to artificially 'grow' all sorts human organs and body parts, even limbs, in the laboratory. * +

It's not even the first time they've done it, but this time is the first time it's produced successful results and the christian fundamentalist/anti-science movement types have got their knickers in a major twist about it. * +
