It largely depends on the pot but as a general rule you don't want them to be too finely ground. I prefer a cafetiere/French press.coffee.gif * +

I got tired of the french press thing long ago. My moka pot has perforated metalic disc filters similar to what you see with some styles of french presses, so I guess I was right in using the same grind size. * +

Roasting and grinding your own beans is such a faff but if you must, I suggest you try this and then try to replicate it as closely as possible.
