Been drinking Leffe Blonde, it's a quality drop and it's been on special offer at the local off-licence. (quid)2.49 per 750ml bottle. I actually prefer the Leffe Brun but they've only had the Blonde in stock.

Leffe blonde is now dogsh*t.

Since being bought out by AB InBev it's gone down in strength from 6.6'/. to 6'/. and now tastes more like a lager than a belgian blonde ale. * +

Top tip for lager drinkers in the UK, in particular for fans of Czech pilsner: Buy Staropramen from Lidl.(yes)

...'but why should I get it at Lidl Obi?' I hear you asking, 'They sell Staropramen all over the place!'.

Well, only Lidl have the real deal, brewed in the Czech Republic and then exported Staropramen. Everywhere else sells the vastly inferior Staropramen that is brewed on licence here in the UK. Burton on Trent water is a lot different to the water in Prague and it's unsuited to the style, making the beer taste totally different(and not as good).

It's only the loose/individual bottles they have out on the shelves, the 6 packs are the UK brewed stuff. * +

I like Budvar

Yeah, so do I but they don't have that one.

I just saw a video pointing it out and comparing the 2 types. The bottles look exactly the same, except one says ''brewed in the UK'' on the back label and the other says imported to the UK by...etc''. There's a noticable difference in colour between the 2 and the way they pour and behave in the glass, let alone the taste.

I imagine if(?) they brew Budvar on licence over here it won't be as good as the Czech brewed stuff is either. * +

Budvar signed their first ever overseas licence in the UK just last year. Most of the Budvar currently being sold in the UK is still imported from the Czech Republic, at least for now but that may soon be about to change! Apparently Tesco still sell the exported Czech version, if you want to stock up before they go and ruin it. * +
