The music that got sampled in 80's Hip Hop was good. It consisted of obscure Funk and Jazz music which prompted you to find out where the original source came from. The sampling laws in the US came about in the early 90's when Gilbert O'Sullivan took Biz Markie to court and won his case since that point the Hip Hop groups had to get permission to sample music *
