Why do people leave France and travel across the channel in small boats to live in the uk? We have nothing here but rising prices. Ppl having to use food banks as they dont have enough money to feed their family, pensioners trying to keep head above water as pension doesnt cover their bills. Ppl living on the streets as they cant find or afford a home. Then ppl who do have a job strike for more money. But more and more ppl risk their life crossing the channel in small boats to get here, WHY?

Mostly due to family already here and language. African immigrants from ex French colonial nations such as Mali, Algeria etc stop in France and rarely cross the channel. Those who speak English and/or from the UK's colonial past pass through France and try to get here. *
