in the uk its actually illegal although I doubt many are found out. If the owner has unlimited data it may not matter providing you dont download a lot of large files that will slow his connection down. If you stick to browsing you maybe ok. * +

Agrees,all that's needing done is to login to their router and check the connected devices.Ip config would also show up any irregularities on their system.A small knowledge is all that's required to figure it out,also some routers will light up or blink when someone's using it. * +
