Games switch to 720p when you start them, don't they? 1080i is the best res for the console menus. Games must look fugly on that old console though. * +

1080i are double frames where as 720p is single frame pixels motion. 1080i look s**t with fast sports on, what is video games on it

On a 720P HDTV? 720p obviously. 1080i introduces interlacing artifacts on fast motion scenes. Which is generally what most games are about. 360's scaler is pretty decent though. * +

I have switched between the two and it's hard to tell what's best. If anything I would say 1080i looks a tad better. Doing research hasn't helped either. From what I have read, 720p for smaller tv's, 1080i for bigger tv's. * +

You're an idiot. TV size is irrelevant. If it's a 720p HDTV, then you use 720p for games. End of story. * +
