It's a big hefty job coming up with a script and a new director other than Lucus, although yeah his prequels were bad he invited Star Wars and wrote it and made it what it was. The Force Awakens was basically a reboot to say hello to new characters and pass the baton to the whole new vision of what Disney want to turn it into.
So this is a a new direction away from the other films and although Rogue One neatly could slot into the beginning of the already established Star Wars universe they're taking it somewhere else, I hope.
A lot lies on this film for the many spin offs and a tv series, or many tv series to compete with DC and Marvel and ker ching money in the bank. * +
