I'm thinking either it's all a ruse and he isn't going to die or Gimple has completely messed up Walking Dead.
There was a theory that he didn't actually get bitten by a zombie and it was something else that the next episode will introduce that is in the comic. * +

he's in the newest episode so if he's really leaving he hasn't died yet. I've still not watched past episode six, not sure if it's worth it.
they have no plans to end the show ever so it can only decline and become a soap opera I'm thinking. * +
