Hearts don't really break, they just get corrupted. You have to clear that corruption so you can embrace something new.

You see it as a loss because you're losing what it could've been, or what you wanted it to be, or what you thought it was before it let you down.. so it's hard to let go.

But that's not what it was, evidently... So you're not losing that.

You need to see it for what it was, have your moment with it, and then you'll be ready to let it go. * +

The simple answer is you can't, well not unless you lock yourself away and never talk to anyone again. You have emotions which means you will always have the potential to have your feelings hurt, as you get older there are certain things that won't hurt you as much after the first few times, but there are things that never get easier, like having your heart broken by someone you care about.
