A friend of mine has a 1.6i polo motor mated to a 4 spd box in his 83 mk1 golf,cai, branch and a home built free flow exhaust. His car limits in third gear at 200km/h, in 4th it can be taken almost all the way round back to the zero. Stock polo with stock gearing, I dont think so * +

I quoted 120bhp because really you need a certain amount of power to reach 200kph because of the coefficient of drag. Said coefficient of drag being close these days means that you need so much power to reach such a roadspeed as a minimum. 200kph usually needs about 120bhp in any modern bodied car. * +

There are loads of different Polo 1.4's what are you on? Some are 8v 60bhp some are 16v and even then either 75bhp and 100bhp depending on the model, then there's the FSi and then there's the TSi and not all Polo 1.4's are petrol, some are diesel and not all of them are turbo.. Christ man give us something to go on..? * +

A healthy '95-'99 version with the AFH engine will probably just do it, i got almost 120mph out of my wife's old one but that was with long gearing it could never pull, as i'd fitted a longer ratio gearbox from a 1.6 8v saloon. In any case, the latest Polo GTi DSG is a 1.4 and that'll smash 200kph. * +
