The Renault 5 was the small car with a decent ride quality.

I had a 1.7. GTX back in the day, and whilst not as fast as the GT turbo it was quick enough. More the point though, it was comfortable with it, like a mini limousine, it was nicer to drive than a Sierra 2.0i Ghia i had at the same time. * +
